First stumbling blocks:
If the prepared boot media was not found and the default operationg system was started you may change the boot order in BIOS settings or you may open the BIOS Boot Select Menu (BBS). You can open the BIOS Boot Select Menü at startup usually with the keys F8, F10 or F12. If you ware using a Mac you have to press ALT key at boot time to get the BBS menu.
"Secure Boot" and UEFI are not supported by the live-dvd. On computers with Windows 8 you have to disable "Secure Boot" in the BIOS settings, if you got the folowing error message: Image Authorization Fail System can not boot this device due to Security Violation.
Open the BIOS settings and go to section "Boot". Enable the "Compatibilty Support Module" (CMS) for boot mode. Sometimes it is called "Legacy Support". This will disable "Secure Boot" too.
The BIOS settings you may open usually with F1, F2 or DEL at startup. Please have a look at the manual for your computer.
Some computers with USB-2.0 and USB-3.0 ports are only able to boot from USB-2.0. Please try another USB port in this case.
The JonDo live system offers some prepared languages settings for boot options. Choose your prefered localisation with cursor down or up keys.
You may adapt the behavior of the Live-DVD with different boot parameters to fit your needs. In order to influence the boot parameters choose the prefered language and press the TAB key instead of ENTER. The parameters for German are shown: ... boot=live config hostname=host initrd=/live/initrd.img
You may add other boot parameters:
If you have problems with the hardware or the power management disabling ACPI may be helpful: acpi=off
With some laptops the display is dark after startup. If the desktop was not visisble after 2 minutes you may try to increase the display brightness with the key [¤+] on your keyboard. If it was not working you may add the following boot parameter to start with 100% display brightness: nomodeset
If you have a computer with more than 2 GB RAM you may load the live-cd completely to RAM at startup. This will increase the performance if you were using a DVD-ROM but increases boot time. Add the boot option: toram
For CRT-monitors it is useful to enter the screen resolution during boot time. The resolution found automatically is in most cases way too fine-grained. Add the following parameter to avoid that: screen=1024x768
You can change the keyboard layout very comfortable on the desktop, but if you want to change the default keyboard layout at boot time you may do this by adding: locales=YOUR_LOCALE keyboard-layouts=YOUR_KEYBOARD
where YOUR-LOCALE is your preferd localisation e.g. "de_CH.UTF-8" for Swiss and YOUR_KEYBOARD the layout you want to use, e.g. "ch" for a Swiss keyboard layout.
